Flâneur - New Urban Narratives in Derby

A lot of events in Derby!

On March 23 at Cathedral Green, during the opening tour of FORMAT International Photography Festival  the launch of the spectacular outdoor exhibition of the FLANÉUR - NEW URBAN NARRATIVES project in Derby with an introduction by Director Nuno Ricou Salgado. The retrospective exhibition and installation featuring work by 26 artists commissioned by the project over the past three years will be till April 23 in Pearson's that is located next to Derby's St Helen's House on King Street. This amazing Grade I listed building used to be a former school has been transformed into an exhibition space by Format.

Another special event at Creswell Crags on March 25 to launch the Flâneur: New Urban Narratives season. Featuring the work of Liz Hingley, Discpula and Tom Hunter, this event gives you the chance to see additional work from each of the artists. 

It is also the launch of The People's Portrait, a community-sourced exhibition of photography from people in the First Art area. 

This celebration event will see the caves at Creswell transformed with digital projections from Rebecca Smith of Urban Projections and a selection of other activities including performances from Pif-Paf Theatre, a photographic time machine, art activities and live music from a brass band. 

First Art is a Creative People and Places project funded by Arts Council England, working to bring great arts experiences to Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire.
